This may be the only WYC regatta in history without any races! Friday saw sustained winds in the 30’s, with gusts recorded in the high 40’s. Some crews did brave the conditions, ready to race. Just when the RC thought it would be raceable in the bay, the breeze increased again, forcing three guns.
In a case of feast or famine, Saturday dawned calm. Despite the best efforts of the RC, and the following fleet, no stable wind could be found. Mid way through the afternoon, the RC threw in a couple of marks, and the fleet embarked on some “just-for-fun” races in the bay.
The party on Saturday night was epic, with good food, tall stories, music, dancing and………..rum!
No amount of wind-dancing on Saturday could tempt the wind gods to cooperate. After a long postponement, the RC had no option but to abandon racing for a third straight day.
